You know I adore this and am totally jealous, right? :) Btw, title stolen off me as well, eh? I like what you did to the colors in the end, the blues and vaguely purple reds are lovely. Also, I am loving the discreet watermark.

I hadn't seen this before, but you might want to take in the crop a tad at the top, the white bit in the top of the background is distracting. Also, there's a strange thing going on in the background towards the left - the red changes color along a horizontal line, which is vaguely disturbing, but I have no idea personally as to how you could have avoided this in camera, I apologize! It would be easy to fix in Gimp though.

It also probably isn't the composition I would have chosen (I would have tried to include more of the piano on the left), but it works really, really well in this case to have the key in focus in the center and the bokeh off to the right the way you have it here.

The focus on the key itself looks a little, I don't know, fake-ish. It is in focus technically, but it doesn't feel sharp. Perhaps if you had put up the DoF by one stop it might have prevented this.

Otherwise, it's a pity that quite a bit of the photo feels dark other than the highlights, but it certainly doesn't stop this from being gorgeous. It probably even is in keeping with the title and the "ghostliness" of the shot! The hard shadows, blue reflections and lights do make it feel vaguely unreal. It really does look like a ghost is lightly pressing down on the note - you can almost imagine the slightly eerie single note resounding in the silence. This photo really has a high impact on me at the very least! I can't stop obsessing on how I could possibly do this with my (in tune) piano!

Wonderful piece! Thanks for sharing it, and I hope this counts as a critique :)

Thanks! :glomp:

Both the white line and the horizontal red changing colourness are a result of the "fold" in the piano, where the lid lifts up, and the reflections from the window to the right of the piano off that. I might bring in the crop a little to avoid the white, at any rate.

As to the doF... I am always utterly and completely flumoxed by it. I will work on it this summer, but till today I have no clue how to change it, other than twiddling my beautiful focus twiddlable thing. Anyway.

I like the colours too. Touched them up ever so slightly in colour balance, then added a slight filter too.

Aaah, that's what I'd assumed at first, but it's still strange that it doesn't follow a more diagonal vector. Ah well, I'll stop griping about it :aww:

Now that I've explained DoF to you anyways, you'll be a pro at such things! (Oh dear, I've unleashed a monster unto the world... :D)
